Dark Pink and Parallell

Project by Lotte Nilsson-Välimaa and Kenneth Pils

Konstakademien is situated in the very center of Stockholm. It is a prestigious place with a long tradition. The Swedish academy was founded 1735 with the support from the royal family. The house at Fredsgatan was built in mid 19:th century to host the Swedish fine art institution.

Our aim is to react on this context, and try to change the room into something contradictory to the hierarchical system inherent in the architecture.

This we do by changing the overall light in the room into dark pink. "It's like climbing into a warm womb.
We put eyes on to the classical sculptures with adhesive patches.
Kenneth contribute with three photographic images taken in Västberga situated the suburbs of Stockholm. Their round shape is clinging on to the medallions with important men on the walls.
Two spotlights is lightening two of the photographs and one is projecting a clear round spot on a wall.
